Our mission is to build a foundational community that bridges refugees, first-generation families, and Eritrean-Americans born in the United States. We aim to ensure access to knowledge about our heritage and history through education and socialization while addressing community concerns through mutual support and self-help initiatives.

These early settlers came seeking safety and opportunity, and through hard work and resilience, they quickly became an integral part of the community. As the years passed, their children and grandchildren have grown into thriving members of Atlanta’s diverse population, contributing in fields such as education, medicine, business, and community service.
Our community has evolved over the decades, with a deep commitment to preserving our heritage while embracing the opportunities in our adopted homeland. We maintain a strong connection to Eritrea, keeping our traditions alive through community events, cultural programs, and language classes. At the same time, we are dedicated to sharing our rich cultural heritage with the broader Atlanta community, fostering understanding and cooperation between different cultures.
Today, the Eritrean Community Cultural and Civic Center serves as a hub for this vibrant community, offering support to new immigrants, promoting the educational goals of our youth, and providing a gathering space for Eritrean-Americans of all generations. We take pride in building bridges between our homeland and our new home, ensuring that our unique cultural identity continues to thrive in harmony with the broader American society. Through our efforts, we remain committed to the dual mission of honoring our past and shaping a future where our contributions to Atlanta are both valued and lasting..
